WhatsApp's Edit Message feature on your iPhone

The Edit Message feature of WhatsApp now available on your iPhone?

WhatsApp has made an exciting announcement regarding the Edit Message feature, which will soon be available to all Android and iOS users. Over the next few weeks, this feature will be rolled out to ensure that users can make changes to their sent messages

iPhone users can already access this functionality by updating their WhatsApp app. The Edit message feature is highly anticipated as it allows users to modify their previously sent messages within a 15-minute window. Previously, if any errors were made, users had to delete the entire message. However, with this new feature, users can easily rectify mistakes or incorrect information without resorting to message deletion. Although the rollout is happening gradually, iPhone users can already enjoy the benefits of this update. According to WhatsApp's official blog post, they announced a new feature that provides users with more control over their chats. Users can now edit their sent messages by long-pressing on them and selecting the "Edit" option from the menu. This feature allows editing within a window of up to fifteen minutes after the message has been sent.

What is the process for editing a message on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp has rolled out the latest version 23.10.77 of its app for iPhone users, introducing the highly anticipated "Edit Message" feature. iPhone users can update their WhatsApp app through the App Store to access this new functionality. Once the update is installed, here's a step-by-step guide on how to utilize the edit message option on WhatsApp:

  1. Select and long-press the message you wish to edit. This action will highlight the message and display a contextual menu.
  2. On iOS, tap the "Edit" option from the menu.
  3. On Android, locate the three-dot menu at the top-right corner of the screen and tap it to open the menu.
  4. You will be directed to a text field where you can make the desired changes to the selected message. Enter the new message you wish to send in the text field.
  5. After making the necessary edits, tap the green check mark button situated next to the text box to save the edited message.
WhatsApp ensures that when a message is edited, it will be clearly labeled as "edited." This allows both the sender and receiver to be aware that modifications have been made to the original message. Additionally, WhatsApp assures users that, like personal messages, media, and calls, both the original messages and edits are protected by end-to-end encryption.
Furthermore, alongside the Edit Message feature, the new iPhone update brings several noteworthy additions:
Linking devices: iPhone users now have the option to link their iPhones as companions by selecting the "link this device" option during phone number registration.
Keep messages: Users can now save important messages for future reference when using disappearing messages. To save a message, simply long-press on it and choose "Keep."
Text overlay tools: WhatsApp has introduced updated fonts and background colors in Status to enhance the overall user experience.
WhatsApp call link in Calendar: iOS users can conveniently add a WhatsApp call link to the iOS Calendar app by selecting "Add to Calendar" when creating a call link from the Calls Tab.
It's important to note that these features will gradually become available to all iPhone users over the course of the coming weeks.
